CACELA VELHA

Cacela Velha is one of the smallest and best-preserved villages in the Algarve and has one of the best beaches in Portugal. The village is located on a sandstone elevation overlooking the beach.
Until 2010, Cacela Velha beach, officially called Praia da Fábrica, was a peninsula, but due to the opening of a channel, part of this beach became an island. Access to the island is by boat from Sítio da Fábrica or by walking across the wetlands from the village during low tide.
Cacela Velha beach was considered by the editors of the Spanish edition of Condé Nast Traveler magazine as one of the best beaches in the world, and The Guardian included it in its list of the 10 best beaches in Europe for walking.
