CASTRO MARIM

Castro Marim is a charming village in the south of the Algarve known for its dams, sandy beaches and natural salt pans.
The first traces of occupation in Castro Marim date back to the Neolithic period, when the village was much closer to the sea.
For centuries, Castro Marim prospered as a port, receiving commercial vessels from the neighbouring villages of Alcoutim and Mértola. Nowadays, like most Algarve villages, tourism has become the main economic activity.
